Elements Green, a UK-based developer, has received approval from AEMO and Powerlink for the Eurimbula Solar Farm. Situated near Gladstone in Queensland, this project will become Australia’s largest hybrid solar and storage facility. It features a 560 MW solar plant and a 666 MW/1,332 MWh battery system.
The project is valued at $2 billion and covers an area of 1,285 hectares, containing over 1.2 million PV modules. It is a significant advancement for Australia’s renewable energy aspirations, anticipated to produce approximately 1,460 GWh of clean energy annually.
Supported by ARENA, Eurimbula aims to explore the advantages of grid-forming inverters, facilitating the transition from coal in the power system. This development highlights Australia’s commitment to enhancing its renewable energy capacities.
