Aquila Clean Energy Asia Pacific (Singapore) wind project begins after political reprieve

Key takeaways:

  • Legislative changes have facilitated the continuation of the delayed wind farm project, highlighting government adaptability to support intricate ventures.
  • The project’s progress emphasizes the appeal of Tasmania’s renewable energy potential to foreign investors.
  • Companies and service providers might find opportunities in assisting with infrastructure projects facing bureaucratic or logistical challenges.

Aquila Clean Energy Asia Pacific has commenced construction on its 21-megawatt wind farm located at Port Latta in northwestern Tasmania. This project, which faced delays due to the absence of an offtake agreement and the expiry of its permit, was able to progress after a legislative amendment extended the permit’s validity. The wind farm will comprise five 4.5MW turbines. It is anticipated that the connection to TasNetworks’ sub-station will be completed by the end of the year.
